In May 2008 MSI traveled to Mid-Western Nepal to write music with students at Gorkha International Public Higher Secondary School (GIPHSS). The school is non-government but open to all. We were amongst the only foreigners to have been to the school so it was exciting for everyone. When we arrived, Principal Elvi was busy in the schoolyard choreographing a dance number for the schools upcoming tenth anniversary celebration. I asked Mr. Elvi if they had a school song. 'We do not', he replied. We decided that a song to honor the founders and the school would be the first of two the Gorkhali Band would write and record over the coming month.
